Derailed on Day 3: Job 4-9

Just finished reading day 3 and day 4 of our Bible reading plan. Hard to believe (not really) that I already fell behind. I actually liked reading a larger portion together. Not that I plan to fall behind consistently! :)

I think one of the main things God impressed on me is that He is God, He is strong and He can handle our questions, fears and accusations. God knows we are human and will face times in our lives that are difficult and will cause us to question. He is not afraid of our questions. I think He wants us to communicate with Him whether we are praising Him or asking Him questions. And asking questions doesn't mean we have less faith. I think it helps us process things in our own minds and hearts. And in those times of questioning, God will speak to us and reaffirm His love for us. I think Job is processing his circumstances and one of the ways he is doing that is by talking to God.

My thoughts as I do my own processing. Thank you, God, that You are sovereign and that You can handle what we throw at You.

Psalm 119: Thoughts

Just finished reading today's passage, Psalm 119. I'm struck by the author's desire to please God and his love for God's law. Verses 10 and 11: "With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." This is ringing in my heart as are these words from Jason Morant's song, Fashion: "Invade my very heart. Change me until I am who you are. You come and fashion me until every part is how you desire."

Lord, I pray that You would invade my heart!

Fashion by Jason Morant

Your love is all I have
It brings me to the floor
I can't ignore
The way You make me feel

Your eyes are fixed on me
Your words will light my way
From day to day
I will never need a thing

You're faithful to the end
You've let me know
Through every circumstance
You will never leave my side

You're closer than my breath
You're always on my mind
And still there's more room
For more of You in my life

Invade my very heart
Change me until
I am who You are
You come and fashion me
Until every part is how You desire

The stains that cover me
They all have disappeared
Since You came near
You made me like a child

Now I see through Your eyes
The way it ought to be
You call on me to never compromise

Invade my very heart
Change me until
I am who You are
You come and fashion me
Until every part is how You desire

Your love is all I have
It brings me to the floor
I can't ignore
The way You make me feel

Invade my very heart
Change me until
I am who You are
You come and fashion me
Until every part is how You desire

Invade my very heart
Change me until
I am who You are
You come and fashion me
Until every part is how You desire

Is how You desire
Is how You desire

Lent: For the Body, Soul, Mind and Spirit

Today marks the start of Lent. I had decided that I would give up sweets since I didn't feel, at the time, that the Lord had given me anything specific. However, this morning as I was getting ready, the Lord spoke to me. I drive into the office 4 days each week and all my time in the car is spent listening to talk radio. Talk radio isn't bad...I love it. But God clearly impressed on my heart that it was time that could be spent worshipping Him. So I'm giving up talk radio for Lent. And worshipping God in my car. The only problem is that worshipping in my car seems more emotional than worshipping in church...maybe because I'm only and really focusing on the meaning of what I'm saying and how awesome God is. So I might have to start taking my eye makeup to work in case I have repair work to do when I get there! ;-)

Thank you Jesus that You spoke to me. I pray this time will honor You and that You would invade my heart!
