Double digits...

This may be the post with the least purpose ever...simply to make it into double digits (10) for number of posts in February. Yikes...I can't believe that I've slacked so much this month. Hopefully March will be better.

Not only did I make it out of bed...

(see last night's post) but I made it through spin class this morning. Not sure how (or why) but I did. And I've lived to tell about it! ;-)

Happy Wednesday!

What was I thinking?

Today might actually be one of my hardest workout days ever.

As usual we headed for the gym a bit before 6 this morning. I had to run 3.5 miles today as part of my 10k training. But I knew if I did that first, I'd be ready to go too early. So, I lifted (upper body) for about 40 minutes. Then I hit the treadmill for my 3.5 miles.

After that lovely workout and a full work day, I headed back to the gym around 5:20 to meet my friend Tiffany for our Tuesday evening training camp class. Only tonight, not only did we do the hour-long training class, we stayed for another hour to do the step/bosu class.

I left the gym around 7:45 p.m. and realized as I was pulling out of the parking lot, that I would be back in about 10 hours...for...drum roll please...spin class. That is, if I can get out of bed in the morning.

Am I freakin' nuts? Yes, I think so.

Miracles can happen...

We all experienced a miracle* in the spin room at the YMCA this morning. Chris and his workout partner, Paul, came to spin class this morning.

Paul had promised one of the spin instructors that he would come to a spin class sometime in February and then roped Chris into it as well. Today was the day.

We rocked with great music (mostly from the 80s) and a heavy interval ride. Chris made it through the whole ride, but it definitely took its toll on him. I don't think he was prepared for such a workout.

I had to keep looking over to make sure he was okay! ;-)

This was probably a once in a lifetime thing for him...but it was fun...for me, at least!

*I'm not trying to take away from real miracles...I do believe in them!

I think I'll keep him...

Not that there was any doubt, but I'm always surprised at the lengths Chris goes to to make me feel special and loved.

This morning I woke up to Valentine's Day cards scattered all over the house.*

The first card I encountered was at 2:55 a.m. when I woke up to go to the bathroom (this happens to me quite often now...one of the downfalls of getting old). The card was balanced on top of the roll of toilet paper in our bathroom. I have to say that I didn't stop to open the card right then because I was anxious to get back in bed and get a couple more hours of sleep.

When I woke up at 5:30 to get ready to go to the gym, I encountered the other 3 cards. One was on the ledge at the top of the stairs. One was sitting on the dining room table. And the final one was in the cupboard where we keep our glasses (he knew I'd open that before the gym because I have to have my Spark** every morning).

In addition to the cards, I got a Starbucks giftcard, some York Peppermint Patty bites and York mints.

He's very sweet and so thoughtful. I can't help but feel loved.

Hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day, too. Here's a hug from me to you!

*Not really that much of a surprise because he has a habit of doing this for all special occassions...we should buy stock in Hallmark.

**A supplement I drink every morning...it gets me going. If you're interested in trying it, let me know.

Not only do I love M&Ms, now I am one...

Okay, so I'll start by admitting that I'm a dork. I saw this commercial on TV and took a little visit to this Web site: www.becomeanmm.com.

And now, I'm an M&M. I mean, it really looks like me, right down to the flip flops...don't you think so?

Can't get it out of my head...

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not usually one who enjoys incredibly stupid movies. And if I see one, I don't usually subject myself to seeing it multiple times.

Nacho Libre, however, is one of the exceptions. If you've never seen it, you need to. It is absolutely hilarious...and the more you watch it, the funnier it gets.

I wake up in the morning with lines and songs from the movie running through my head.

Check out Chris' blog for a clip of one of the funniest parts of the movie.

Happy early heart day...

We just got back from a Valentine dinner at our church. What a blast. We had a great meal and then played the Crosslight version of the Newlywed Game. There were four couples...two true newlyweds (5 months and just under 2 years) and two non-newlyweds (5 years and 18 years).

First the women had to leave the room and the guys had to answer 4 questions, here are a couple of them:
  • How many pairs of shoes does your wife have? (one of the men asked, "Do flip flops count?")
  • What flower does your wife most resemble when she first wakes up in the morning? (Answer choices were a) sunflower; b) bird of paradise or c) snap dragon.) Can you believe that all the men answered sunflower?
Then the men had to leave the room and the women had to answer 3 regular questions and the 25 point bonus question. Here are a few:
  • What one thing that belongs to your husband would you like to throw away the first chance you get?
  • If your husband were driving in strange city and got lost, what would he do? (Answer choices were a) pretend not to be lost; b) stop and ask for directions; c) stop and buy a map; d) find a way to blame it on you.)
  • The bonus question: How much money does your husband have on him right now?
Believe it or not, Maryanne and Josh (married 18 years) had only 5 points before the bonus question. However, they were the only ones to answer the bonus question correctly and won the game! Just goes to show you that you can never give up.

Anyway, it was a fun night and now I'm ready for bed! Good night all.

Counting on the Colts...

Don't worry, I don't have any money riding on them! ;-)

I'm really hoping for a Colts win tonight. And, lest you think there's no logic behind my choice (other than wanting to see Peyton win a Super Bowl), here it is.

The Colts went undefeated for the first 9 games of the regular season. I was too busy watching my Cowboys to pay much attention to them, other than to know that they were undefeated.

Then came week 10, Cowboys vs. Colts. I'm sure nobody expected the Colts to lose their first game to the Cowboys, but alas, it was to be so, with the Cowboys at a 21-14 win.

So, you see, perfect logic. Cowboys were the first team to beat the Colts. So, Colts are the logical choice for me tonight! This time I'll be routing for the Colts!

Our YMCA Early Risers group is having a Super Bowl party tonight. Should be a lot fun...really looking forward to it!

If it's not one thing, it's another...

Let me preface this by saying that I'm really not complaining. No, really. I realize that even some of the problems I consider big, are really very small in the scheme of life.

However, I will say that lately it seems that there is always something going on. Yesterday morning we had scalding water coming out of our faucets. Now I like me some hot showers so usually I have the knob turned almost all the way to hot. But yesterday morning, it was unbearable. That kind of made us think something odd was going on.

Then last night, we realized that we had no hot water at all. Yikes. We went from flesh-burning hot, to frost-bite cold in a matter of hours.

Chris checked in the shed to be sure the hot water heater hadn't busted...it hadn't. I called my dad, jack of all trades, and he said it sounded like the element had burned out. Great, I thought. I immediately went online to price hot water heaters. A little ahead of myself...that's the way I am.

This morning we looked for a reset button (another suggestion from my dad) but we couldn't find one. We called Pastor Mike for a recommendation on a "guy" that could come take a look at it. But instead of a recommendation, he said he'd be over in about an hour. He's awesome.

He's here and pretty sure it's the element...but apparently they are only about $30 each and there's only 2 elements in the hot water heater. So, off they're going to Home Depot/Lowes and they should be replaced shortly.

Woohoo! I was actually thinking I'd have to go to the gym to shower today, but looks like, if I hold my horses, I might get a hot shower after all.

Happy day.
